a highly skilled Paralegal or Case Manager for its growing staff.

About the role
You will be responsible for the following:

• Reviewing client intake.
• Receiving case referrals, reviewing referral documents for relevant information, and collecting any missing information/documentation.
• Opening and establishing parentage cases (performing conflict checks, creating invoices, preparing retainer letters/conflict waivers, requesting and receiving legal fees.)
• Managing a varied caseload.
– Organizing and managing various types of parentage cases with clients, attorneys, co-counsel, opposing counsel, agencies, clinics, courts, hospitals, and government agencies.
– Scheduling client consultations.
– Securing signed pleadings and filing parentage case with the court.
• Preparing, reviewing, and revising various legal documents, including:
– Retainer letters, conflict waivers, written communication and correspondence, disengagement letters, and court pleadings.
– You will also assist clients, if needed, in obtaining their child’s birth certificate, amending the child’s birth certificate, obtaining apostilles on the child’s birth certificate and/or the court judgment.
Your qualifications:
The ideal candidates will be able to see the big picture as well as focus on the details. We’re looking for people who are highly motivated and great collaborators.
We’d love to hear from you if . . .
- 1+ years of experience as a paralegal or a case manager with court experience in this or other fields.
- You have a stellar work ethic, are extremely attentive to details, are professional and reliable, and are competent in organizing and prioritizing multiple responsibilities in real-time.
- You are interested in the fertility field, have a drive to learn and succeed, know how to ask questions, and have superb people skills on the phone, in person, and via email.
- You have solid experience in a PC environment with Microsoft Office, Word, Outlook, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
- You remain calm and level-headed when dealing with myriad emotions and can provide a “safe space” for prospects and clients to express themselves.
- You have the ability to think critically and take the initiative to solve problems.
- You understand the sensitive nature of this work and the essential requirement to keep confidential all matters that you deal with.
- You are supportive of the rights of all people to create family.
Pluses, but not required: Knowledge of filing pleadings (whether via mail or e-filing) in California courts. Experience with customer database systems and document assembly systems, experience working in a family law firm, family law court, surrogacy agency, egg donation agency, or IVF clinic.
