Egg Donors to Research Can Be Paid

A new California law awaiting the Governor’s signature will for the first time allow women who donate eggs to medical research studies to be compensated, just as other medical research subjects are. Currently the law allows research egg donors to be reimbursed for direct expenses such as travel, but not to be compensated for time and inconvenience. The American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) was a sponsor of the bill. Here is a link to more information from the ASRM Bulletin.
