13 Aug 2016 ABA Family Law Section Chair's Cup Awarded for First Time to ART Attorneys
I was highly honored recently, in my capacity as chair of the ART Committee of the American Bar Association's Family Law Section, to receive the ABA Family Law Section Chair's Cup award, presented by outgoing Section Chair Greg Ortiz. The award was presented jointly to me and my predecessor as ART Committee chair, Steven Snyder. As Steven was unable to attend, I accepted his award on his behalf.
As an attorney whose practice is focused exclusively on ART law, I was acutely aware of the significance of the recognition, marking the first time the Chair's Cup award has gone to an ART attorney. It was under Steven's tenure as committee chair, during a time when assisted reproductive technology saw tremendous advances, that the committee's work became ever more impactful. I've been so proud to work with the talented and dedicated attorneys who make up the committee. Together we have continued the work that Steven started in developing standards and best practices to help ensure ART families have equal status and protection under the law.
